There are various reasons why people gain weight; the obvious ones are overeating, comfort eating etc. But, then the question is asked, Why?
When a person needs to lose a lot of weight, for example more than two stones, then it is more likely to be something involving psychological problems, depression, lack of confidence, low self esteem, etc. It becomes a vicious circle, you overeat because you’re depressed, you’re depressed because you’ve overeaten!
The first thing to forget is that dreaded word ‘diet’. And throw away the scales!
Human nature being what it is, once you are deprived of something, then you want it all the more. You want to lose weight so you deprive yourself of everything which is ‘fattening’; at first you feel great, pleased with your self-discipline, constantly weigh yourself, successfully lose a few pounds in the first couple of weeks, strip yourself right down to get on the scales, stand on one foot etc, etc, to make yourself lighter. Then, horror of horrors, those wretched scales are showing a GAIN. That’s it, give up; you are not going to deprive yourself of all those lovely fattening foods again. You begin to eat ‘normally’ again and gain even more weight.
Sound familiar? That’s because it is a very, very familiar pattern, this is the trap that the vast majority of ‘slimmers’ fall into.
This is where hypnosis can help. During an initial consultation, I will be able to establish the most suitable form of treatment which will enable the client to lose weight. The aim will be to improve self image, gain confidence, remove the desire to overeat and learn to enjoy eating healthy foods whilst reducing your desire to overeat the wrong type of foods.
If you wish to lose under two stone, then this is ideal.
Suggestion therapy would be used, making suggestions to your sub-conscious mind that you are going to control what and how you eat.
If you need to lose more than two stone then Diane would make an assessment at the initial consultation (no charge) and decide on the best course of action.
This could be HypnoBand (a non-surgical gastric band), THRIVE (formerly Changing Limiting Beliefs) or Pure Hypnoanlysis. It could also possibly be a combination of two of these treatments.
It is important to be aware that none of this is done for you; you will still need to be focused and really want to take back control. However, having said that, it is so much easier and more long lasting than trying to do it on your own. This gives you the tools to be in control, giving you that sense of pride and pleasure!
You will be given a great deal of support and encouragement.
At the end of the sessions you should be capable of managing your weight successfully from then on.
Progress of Jill consulting for weight loss and undertaking the Hypnoband programme
Jill first consulted on 1 July 2014, weighing in at 20st.0lb. She is 5’2” tall. She was weighed on this first session. She went through the Hypnoband programme and it was arranged that she would attend on 25 August 2014 for her fifth session. She weighed in at 18st, having lost an astonishing 2st.
With this programme I offer subsequent free monthly sessions to give support and for the client to be weighed and to follow their progress.
This is Jill’s progress:
- 23 September 2014: 17st (loss of a further stone)
- 21 October 2014: 16st.2lb (loss of a further 12lb)
- 25 November 2014: 15st.4lb (loss of a further 12lb)
It’s worth noting that during November, Jill went on an all-inclusive holiday, enjoyed her food and drink and yet still maintained her new eating habits. She has a right to be proud of her achievement because, with any kind of weight loss, one has to put in the effort, albeit Hypnoband or the actual surgical procedure.
Many of my clients have lost weight going through this programme but Jill has been exceptional in the amounts of weight she has shifted in that space of time.
There is no rigid eating plan, there is no ‘dieting’ (always doomed to failure), it is simply acknowledging the change of lifestyle that is required, along with the belief that she has a gastric band fitted.
6th JANUARY 2015: At Jill’s appointment today she has lost a further 1st 6lb, now weighing in at 13st 12lb. This is in spite of Xmas, a particularly testing time, and afterwards going on another all-inclusive holiday. Well done, Jill.
