Tinnitus comes from the Latin word for “ringing”. It can be experienced in one or both ears or even in the head. The noises are not external.
Symptoms differ from person to person; sometimes they can hear ringing or high pitched whining, buzzing, hissing, humming, or whistling sounds; for some it sounds like wind or waves.
Tinnitus is not itself a disease but a symptom resulting from a range of underlying causes, including ear infections, foreign objects or wax in the ear, and injury from loud noises. It can also be side effects of some oral medications such as aspirin.
The sounds may range from a quiet background noise to a loud, sometimes it’s loud enough for the person not to be able to hear anything else going on externally.
Having sought medical advice to confirm that there are no physiological reasons for the condition, then Pure Hypnoanalysis (analytical therapy) and/or THRIVE can work extremely well.
